Many of us have lived in Richland County and watched as our community has gone through many changes. We have seen places like General Motors, Empire Steel, Westinghouse, The Richland Mall and so many more business contribute to the growth and wealth of our community. We can remember going skating at the Coliseum, Bowling at Park Lanes, hanging out with friends at The Mall, and families going to the Drive-In movies. Sadly, the factories and businesses that once made us proud have faded away and left our community a shadow of what it once was. For many, all they see is a community of the past.
They don’t see the new growth that is happening and the good coming out of Richland County. They don’t see the way our community is coming back. The Reformatory, the airport business area, the Carousel, the downtown area, The Brickyard, Gorman Nature Center, or The Bird Sanctuary all making Richland County a great place to live.
Even with the new growth we are just like every community in Ohio, Mansfield has a dark side. There is a disease that affects all of us, every business, every family, every individual has been impacted by the disease of addiction. About 30% of the population has a drug or alcohol problem, it has no boundaries. It crosses cultural, racial, education, and economic lines, but there is hope.
Mother’s Love Mansfield and Recovery Alliance Mansfield are working to save people from drowning in addiction. Teaming with other recovery programs we serve our community by supplying those seeking help with material goods and spiritual guidance. Giving them hope and direction so they can live healthy and productive lives.
As people stop using alcohol and drugs, they need healthy relationships and environments that will help them overcome the pull of addiction. As we supply their immediate needs, they are connected to other resources to help them sustain a healthy drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.

Mother’s Love Ministry was born out of a mother’s love for her daughter. Anna Hamilton dealt with the entrapments of her daughter's addiction for 12 years. She watched her daughter struggle with the disease until they turned it over to Jesus Christ.
Since that day Anna has been telling others about what God has done for her and how He can help them. Her desire is to share the Love of God as she reaches women in addiction. Anna has learned from experience the hardships of the addicted and the trials of the families. Through her contacts Anna is able to help many connect with needed resources, improve Life Skills, and obtain needed materials to support healthy living.
Recovery Alliance Mansfield is designed to educate people about addiction, the recovery process, and how to sustain a healthy lifestyle through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Using the four pillars of recovery, Identity, Repentance, Forgiveness, and Discipleship, Recovery Alliance Mansfield focuses on the spirituality of a Holistic approach.
Ken Young is licensed and ordained in the Christian and Missionary Alliance and has years of experience as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. He brings his clinical and Biblical knowledge to help others understand who they are in Christ and how they can grow closer to God in their relationship while overcoming the addictions of life.
After years of working in the coroner’s office and seeing the devastation of Substance abuse, Bob Ball put together a team of concerned individuals to make a difference in Mansfield. The vision is to provide a safe place where those suffering from addiction, along with their families and friends can gather to get support, to learn about addiction, and grow in their relationship with God.
God led all three of our leaders together at this time to change the face of recovery in Richland County. Together they desire to provide tools to help people transform their lives into the person God wants them to be.
With help from community leaders and interested persons a plan has been launched to provide meetings, needed materials and eventually Sober Minded Housing which will assist those in transition out of a Substance Abuse lifestyle.
Operating as a ministry of The Mansfield Alliance Church, Mother's Love and Recovery Alliance have been meeting the physical and spiritual needs for those getting out of jail, the homeless on the square, and families who have lost someone to addiction.
In 2025, our goal is to provide sober minded housing for as many people as we can. With the State changing rules and code requirements for Recovery style housing. The need for housing will be great and the houses will be few. Our desire is to raise enough money to continue the ministries we have been doing and include one Sober Minded House for those who can’t get housing otherwise.
You can make a difference in Richland County. With your financial support, we can continue to change the face of Richland County. Together, we can make Richland County a place where we can all be proud to live.
